On June 22, Honorine and Angélique made their Temporary Profession at our Novitiate community, Agape, in Senegal. These are the words with which they expressed their joy over this important step in their journey.
With the Word of God and with the help and support of our sisters, the Lord has helped us to be women who desire to do good, live in love, and share their talents. On “this day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice” and, with the Psalmist, let us bless the Lord for the love and mercy the Lord has manifested through us, choosing us as servants to follow in the footsteps of St. Francis and Blessed Frances Schervier.
In truth, it is after experiencing the encounter with God that we pronounced our “yes.”
On June 22, the Lord showered all his blessings upon us with the precious gift of Temporary Profession. The Lord called us to the service of his love. We give thanks to the Lord for his infinite goodness, that is renewed every day toward us. We thank Sr. Wilma and the Council for accepting us as members of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor religious family. Our hearts are full of gratitude to God for being the first ones Sr. Wilma welcomed as Congregational Minister. It was a wonderful celebration because divine providence anticipated everything for us. We celebrated with our families, friends, relatives, and Sisters, spending a most pleasant moment in fraternity.
In this way, we were able to contemplate God’s love, which has always accompanied us. We felt the certainty that God will continue to take care of us deep in our hearts. The day following that beautiful celebration, Sr. Angélique’s home parish and the pastor invited us to celebrate the feast of their patron saint. Mass was very serene and presided over by the apostolic nuncio. The welcome was warm, and we felt the closeness and the love that the parishioners have for their daughter Angélique. All the Sisters from the Area were present with Sr. Wilma, except those who were already on vacation. We give thanks to everyone for their many different forms of support and above all for the prayers that have accompanied us to this very day.
