Inter-cultural Laughter

The visit of Sr. Wilma Molinari to the US recently enabled an evening of joy, laughter and multicultural fun.
While others were watching the competitive sport of football and the Cincinnati Bengals battled for a place in the upcoming Super Bowl, Srs. Wilma, Bonnie, Teresita and JoAnn played an unusual game… a multicultural, multi-language, noncompetitive game of Scrabble!

The purpose was to simply make words and use all the letters -and we were able to do just that!  Although our “new rules” allowed for words in Italian, German, Filipino and Polish, we also played without counting points, so no one would be a loser. And, we played cooperatively, so if anyone had difficulty making a word, we all helped them. It resulted in a game spread across the board, with plenty of space, letters and creativity for everyone… and a lot of laughter included. Our “reward” for a game well-played and time invested in cooperation was a delicious roast beef dinner prepared by Sr. Bonnie.
We all agreed – the United Nations and warring countries could learn a lot from our example!
