During the night between Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2025, the young people from St. Bernadette Parish in Témento, Senegal, organized a nighttime march toward the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace. The young people of the Samine ecclesiastical community participated, traveling a distance of around seven kilometers.
The participants met in the courtyard of the parish church of Samine, where they were welcomed by the pastor, Fr. Paul David Niakh, a Missionary Oblate of Mary Immaculate, and they listened to some reflections on the theme of forgiveness and reconciliation.
The march began at midnight, with participants taking turns accompanying the World Youth Day cross, which was received on the Feast of St. Bernadette of Soubirous and is hosted by the different parishes of the area.
When they arrived at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peace, the chaplain exposed the Blessed Sacrament to allow the young people to immerse themselves in a time of adoration and meditation. Then followed the mass, whose Gospel reading was the parable of the prodigal son, which illustrated the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation well.
