On Sunday, April 26, 2026, the World Day of Prayer for Vocations took place in the Senegalese town of Sandiara. This spiritual gathering, which brought together a dynamic and lively group of young people from throughout the Diocese of Dakar, centered on a powerful and inspiring theme: “The Joy of Following Jesus.” It was a wonderful moment of communion, intense prayer, and deep reflection on the meaning of this commitment to following Jesus.
SFP pre-novices and novices were present, and they describe their experience as follows:
On this day, we had the joy of meeting others, sharing with them, and expressing our enthusiasm. We were reminded that Christ is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life,” inviting us to return to our inner selves. To achieve this, several points were highlighted: cultivating silence to make room for the Word, opening our hearts to better perceive God’s voice, committing to a life of continuous prayer, and, finally, seeking fraternal accompaniment and sincere dialogue to discern our own calling. We realized that the joy the world offers us is fleeting, but the lasting and eternal joy is Jesus. Each of us has a unique calling in life, and God guides each of us with infinite love; that is why it is important to listen to His voice in silence and prayer.
The Day allowed us to perceive our vocation as a generous response to God, placing ourselves at the service of others. It was a magnificent celebration of fraternity that concluded with a surge of hope and inner renewal.
