FRANCISCAN SPIRITUALITY
Our foundress embraced Franciscan spirituality from a young age, and the Congregation belongs to the large Family of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi. The wisdom of Francis and Clare has traversed time and space, involving more and more people in their way of seeing reality and living faith.
Completely adherent to the Gospel and in solidarity with every living being, these two saints opened new roads. Clare founded a community of women dedicated to contemplation and community life. Francis created a new way of being a brother among other brothers and sisters. His transformation began when he embraced the lepers in Assisi, who were marginalized and rejected by society, to singing in honor of brother sun, sister moon, and all creation.
Francis set out with a clear message: “May the Lord give you peace!” It was a greeting made of concrete actions address to the rich and to the poorest, to those who embraced the sword, and to those who belonged to other faiths. Francis and Clare are still two revolutionaries and two examples to follow.
